Role of the Mentor

ROLE OF THE MENTOR

In the GAA/JobBridge Fís Scheme the role of the mentor is to use their expertise to held to advance the intern's career development and enhance their education. Mentors will be expected to encourage the interns in self-directed learning in order to develop their capabilities on foot of experience and reflection.

Mentors will act as guides insofar as they will not give instructions to the interns nor will they set targets for the interns. Instead mentors will encourage the interns to explore potential solutions to problems/situations as well as to identify and set their own objectives.

The primary role of the mentor is to encourage the intern to engage in experiential and reflective learning.
